Gateway to the Southern Alps' Mt Aspiring National Park World Heritage Area; a wilderness of glaciers, beech forests and alpine lakes, Wanaka is a lively town with a laid back charm and is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts.

In winter, people flock to here from all around the world for superb skiing and snowboarding at Treble Cone and Cardrona, cross country skiing at Snow Farm, heli-skiing high in the Harris Mountains and slightly further afield skiing at Coronet Peak and the Remarkables in Queenstown.

Wanaka’s crisp clear winters and warm dry summers lend a hand to the huge range of activities & attractions on offer throughout the year, no matter the season.

Lake Wanaka is home to some of the world's most beautiful hiking and tramping country and possibly the best collection of half-day walks anywhere. Experience world leading mountain biking terrain, take flight in a vintage WW1 Tiger Moth biplane, helicopter or hang-glider or simply relax and experience a guided tour of Central Otago’s famous wine region.

In addition to the Wanaka Golf Course, there are another 6 high quality courses within a one hour drive from Wanaka. They all offer challenging golf on well maintained and manicured courses, set in unique and dramatic landscapes that reflect the Southern Lakes and Central Otago Regions. These courses are Arrowtown, Millbrook Resort, Jack's Point, Kelvin Heights - Queenstown, Cromwell and Alexandra.
